Student, Faculty of Science selected to Join Summer Program 2018 at CERN, Switzerland
CMU’s Mr. Sorawich Maichum, undergraduate student, Department of Physics and Material Science, Faculty of Science, has been selected as 1 of 4 Thai students to join the Summer Program during June – September, 2018 in CERN, Switzerland. This 8 - 12 week program is an opportunity for the students to develop their skills in particle physics by joining famous international physicists.
Synchrotron Beam Research Institute together with the National Science and Technology Development Agency, the National Astronomy Research Institute, the Physical Excellent Center, the National Nuclear Technology Institute and IRPC initially selected the Thai students who demonstrated potential and had suitable qualifications. This short list was then presented to H.R.H. Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn who made the final selection.
The opportunity for teachers and students to attend the CERN summer program has been provided by H.R.H. Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn, who last visited CERN (The European Organization for Nuclear Research) on March 16, 2009. During her visit an expression of interest document was signed enabling physicists from Thai universities and research institutes to conduct research in particle physics together with researchers in CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) as well as enabling Thai high school students and teachers to join the annual CERN Summer Student Program.
