On April 23, 2018 at 10 a.m. (Thai time), Professor Emeritus Avudh Srisukri, Vice Chairman of University Council Acting President of Chiang Mai University, Associate Professor Dr. Avorn Opatpatanakit, Acting Vice President for Societal Engagement of Chiang Mai University, Professor Dato’ Dr. Imran Ho Abdullah, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Professor Datuk Dr. Rokiah Hj. Omar, Director of University Community Transformation Centre, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia participated in the teleconference for the Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony between Chiang Mai University and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in organizing of the 4th AsiaEngage Regional Conference 2018 and the 7th ASEAN University Network Thematic Network of University Social Responsibility and Sustainability Steering Committee Meeting, to be held during 26 – 28 November 2018 at the International Convention, The Empress Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand. This MoA shall mark the concrete collaborative commitment between Chiang Mai University, as the conference host, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, as the AUN USR&S Secretariat, in organizing the aforementioned events. Honorable representatives of conference partners: Associate Professor Dr. Sampan Singharajwarapan, Acting Advisor to the President for Research, Chiang Mai University, Assistant Professor Dr. Kaltima Pichai, Vice President of Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, and Dr. Duangjai Putthawong, Deputy Director of Research and Development Institute, Lampang Rajabhat University and local presses are kindly attended in this ceremony.
The 4th AsiaEngage Regional Conference 2018 shall be conducted under the theme on “Achieving SDGs in Asia: Key Challenges for University-Community Engagement” with the close and active collaborations from eight universities: Maejo University, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, Lampang Rajabhat University, Uttaradit Rajabhat University, North-Chiang Mai University, Far Eastern University, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, and Universitas Indonesia, and 8 organizations: Thailand Research Fund, National Research Council of Thailand, Office of the Higher Education Commission, Department of International Organizations – Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Engagement Thailand, Knowledge Network Institute of Thailand, Regional Research Network: Northern Region, and Upper Northern Research Network. It aims to be the regional platform in fulfillment of the research, education and engagement missions of higher education institutions to create mutually beneficial partnerships between multi-sector stakeholders, higher education institution, industries, foundations, communities, NGOs and government agencies to uplift the quality of people’s lives across ASEAN and Asia. In this year, the conference’s focus will base upon 5 sub-themes: University – Community Engagement, University – Civil Society Engagement, University-Industry Engagement, University-Government Engagement, and University-International Agency Engagement.
